Facts and History of the Empire State Building

The skyline of New York City is very unique. From a distance you can make out various tall and differently shaped buildings. But, one of the most unique and iconic building in New York City is the Empire State Building.

 

Located on Fifth Avenue in New York City, the Empire State Building was completed in 1931. At the time, with the unique roof and antennae, at the time it was the largest building in the world. Since then others have been built that are larger, and it is currently the second tallest building in New York City.

 

At 102 stories, the Empire State Building offers visitors and city residents one of the best views in the city. The observation deck at the top of the building is a popular spot to view the New York City area. And the art-deco design makes it a memorable building.

 

Because of the unique building, the Empire State Building has been used in many movies over the year, from King Kong climbing up the side of the building to Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr meeting at the top in An Affair to Remember. The building has seen other movies being filmed there including Elf, Superman II, Funny Face and more.
